Job Description
· Oversee and supervise the Legal Department.
· Ensure the company adheres to its Constitution and by-laws as well as local and international laws/regulatory requirements and be responsible for updating standards, policies and the strategic approach.
· Coordinate with affiliates across the globe to complete multi-territory arrangements.
· Ensure that company legal matters are managed properly and efficiently.
· Provide legal support, advice and strategic guidance to the Board, management and all departments in the company on legal matters, identify the appropriate commercial contracts in accordance to the company’s needs and handle all related issues arising from the company’s operations including but not limited to compliance matters.
· Draft, vet or peruse legal letters, agreements, documents and policies of the company.
· Advise the company on the litigation risks of possible business decisions, provide preventive counseling with respect to the legal risks associated with business practices, develop strategies in response to civil litigation and regulatory inquiries (including negotiating settlement agreements where applicable), and cost-effectively managing the required resources to address these matters.
Serve as liaison with external law firms and represent the company in legal negotiations and disputes
· Negotiate with as well as manage external parties to achieve the best possible options or positions in contract negotiations for the company.
· To apply specialized legal qualifications in the handling of routine legal matters involving research, preparation of legal documents and correspondences related to litigation, contracts, claims handling, and intellectual property.
· Oversee the corporate secretarial matters and provide advice to the management in decision-making processes and to impart decisions made to appropriate parties.
· Manage the dispute resolution and debt recovery matters.
· Review and report to the management any areas of non-compliance with laws, regulations, guidelines, internal rules and policies of the company.
· Collaborate and execute lobbying strategies for the company.
· Draft policy and position papers, following up on the same and representing the company at relevant meetings.
· Research and examine legislation and regulatory proposals and provide feedback on the same as well as educate government officials and corporate officers on these matters.
· Research and keep abreast of policies and regulatory changes from a ‘best practices’ perspective from other jurisdictions.

Job Requirements
· Bachelor of law and minimum 7 years PQE in a law firm or as in-house counsel.
· Knowledge of intellectual property law, especially copyright law, and other related regulations is a plus.
· Ability to work together and collaborate with other team members.
· Ability to garner consensus among colleagues in own department as well as between departments.
· Ability to set priorities and organize work effectively to meet job deadlines.
· Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia
· Strong communication, negotiation, organisational and interpersonal skills with an outgoing and friendly personality
