About The Job

Role Mission
The mission of the role(s) is to grow sales, revenue, and profit by growing our brand awareness, market  penetration, and sales through our Key International distributors. The role(s) will take on our existing Key distributors (in Europe), and any new distributors that are known leaders in their given country/territory. This role(s) will also play a key role in guiding account management at Lumos.

Key outcomes expected from this role:
  1. Work with our key distribution partner to grow sales in Germany by 60% YoY
  2. Work with our key distribution partner to grow sales in Switzerland by 35% YoY
  3. If applicable, on-board key distributors signed on by our BDMs. 
  4. Play a role to ensure Account Management at Lumos is structured and consistent across the BD team.

Key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
  1. Working with existing key partners (Germany + Switzerland) to accelerate growth with them by: 
    • Ensure their basic needs are met with high priority (emails, back and forth, placing and fulfillment of orders etc.)
    • Coordinating marketing efforts (PR, in-store displays, etc.)
    • Ensure that they are kept up-to-date on our latest plans and developments re: new products, pricing, promotions, and other plans, so that they can make their own plans in sync with ours. 
    • Understanding their needs and propose relevant solutions.
  2. Understand Distributors in detail: 
    • where our products fit in their portfolio
    • their organization structure and how to work with their different teams
    • their goals and sales targets
  3. Co-create strategies with distributors to:
    • Maintain current Dealers
    • Add new Dealers
    • Sync with their annual marketing activities and/or or create new ones to build brand awareness
    • Translate our D2C marketing efforts to our distribution channel
    • Ensure Language translations are established.
  4. Support our Distributors by being their link to our internal teams:
    • Work with our Operations to ensure their ordering and fulfillment experience is smooth.
    • Work with our Planner to ensure distributors are updated with our Production schedules.
    • Work with our Marketing and Design team to ensure all Marketing assets are available for them.
    • Work with our Customer Service team to ensure Distributors are getting the second line support they require from us.
  5. Bring a structure to Account Management at Lumos to ensure there’s an annual strategy/plan, and consistency on how we roll out new products or changes.


Note: Given the very early stage of the company that we are in, a high degree of adaptability is expected and required for this role. We are constantly learning new things and adapting our strategy and activities accordingly.

Job Requirements

Key skills and competencies we’re looking for: 

  1. Role Specific: 
    • You’re personable, and able to build and maintain relationships with our key partners by consistently being a good communicator, and holding their trust by following up on action items diligently. 
    • You have a basic understanding of channel management and how distributor and retail relationships work
    • You have some basic exposure to the International markets, culture, mindset, and way of life (you can put yourself in their shoes)
    • You have a customer-oriented mindset, and recognize the importance of providing professional and timely support to ensure that deliverables are met. You manage expectations early and clearly when they cannot be met. 
    • You are able to work with other Lumos teams to get the support you need for your accounts, which may include figuring out ways to better structure communication, and keeping them accountable to deliver on-time.
    • You are able to collaborate with a Distributor to understand their market and Dealers to co-create strategies to penetrate the market. You are able to negotiate with them when challenges arise, and ensure continued growth.
    • You are detail oriented. You like making lists (and following them!)
    • You’re an analytical and strategic thinker. You can draw insights and conclusions from pulling together disparate data. 
  2. Lumos startup specific: 
    • You’re collaborative and proactive. You work well both independently and in a team. You’re highly driven. 
    • Resourceful - You’re able to figure things out on your own with minimal hand holding.
    • You partake in our shared sense of mission, and care enough to get the job done, and get it done well.  

Requirements: 

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience as an Account Manager or Channel Sales Manager, or equivalent sales experience. Experience in the Retail industry is a plus. 2+ years experience as a Key Account Manager is a plus.
  • We are also open to review applicants with 3+ years of experience as an Account Manager or Channel Sales Manager, or equivalent sales experience, who are keen to grow into a Key Account Manager.
  • Experience, familiarity, or interest in cycling is a major plus.
  • Excellent oral and written English.
  • Competent with Excel, Google Apps (Doc, Sheets, Slides, etc.), Slack, and social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
