Job Description

The team:
Me.reka is an open-source education platform that advocates for learning outside the traditional classroom paired with unconventional fun! At Me.reka, anyone can come together to share ideas, pick up new skills, and make things.

You will be working in Me.reka Innovation Labs that are for professional makers or curious learners to do any design project, electronics, fabrication, end-to-end prototyping and customisation work.

What you will do:
  • Consult with clients to determine requirements for designs
  • Sketch out ideas or create renderings, which are images on paper or on a computer that provide a visual of design ideas
  • Use computer software to develop virtual models of different designs
  • Create prototypes of their designs using tools and machinery such as laser engraver and 3D Printers
  • Present designs and demonstrate prototypes to clients for approval
  • Work with the fabrication and electronics to create the look and feel of a brand
  • Train/facilitate people for workshops/classes, occasionally

This includes regularly scheduled weekend jobs. You will need to fulfil 32 working hours every week. Flexibility to work occasional holidays and weekday coverage is preferred. The following days off will be compensated.

Job Requirements

  • 6 months to 1 year of working experience as Product/Industrial Designer or the related field
  • Specialize in AutoCAD, Inventor, 3ds Max, Solidworks, Rhino, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
  • Able to work to deadlines and be under pressure
  • Attention to detail and able to communicate with others and work together with relevant teams
  • Personality: eye for design, willing to learn and be creative, positive and enthusiastic
  • Passionate about education and creativity

Effectively deal with ad-hoc challenges, keep calm in pressing situations, be flexible with last-minute changes, and still have a positive attitude throughout :)
