The team:
Me.reka is an open-source education platform that advocates for learning outside the traditional classroom paired with unconventional fun! At Me.reka, anyone can come together to share ideas, pick up new skills, and make things.

Me.reka Innovation Labs are for professional makers or curious learners to do any design project, electronics, fabrication, end-to-end prototyping and customisation work. 

We want your upbeat and energetic personality in. As long as you have the passion to work with tools and machinery!

The roles:
  • Assist for daily operation of our Me.reka Fab Lab
  • Involve in wood or metal working for creative and sustainable production and upcycled builds
  • Product design into products from ideas generation, design sketches, 3D modelling and prototyping 
  • Contributing to design and development of the outcomes
  • Work closely with Me.reka team to complete projects within given deadlines 

This includes regularly scheduled weekend jobs. You will need to fulfil 40 working hours every week. Flexibility to work occasional holidays and weekday coverage is preferred.

What you will learn:
As a small team, you will be able to receive intensive training and understand the various tasks quickly. In this internship, you will be able to learn about many different aspects that are involved in the production engineering. This is the perfect opportunity for somebody who is still exploring the field or who wishes to develop into an all-rounder.

Job Requirements

  • Interest and knowledge in Product/Industrial Design, Wood & Metal Working, Carpentry, Production tools and machinery, Mechanical Engineering and any related areas
  • AutoCAD, Inventor, 3ds Max, Solidworks, Rhino, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
  • Able to work to deadlines and be under pressure
  • Attention to detail and able to communicate with others and work together with relevant teams
  • Personality: eye for design, willing to learn and be creative, positive and enthusiastic
  • Role may involve responsibility for performing manual labor, which may be of a heavy nature.This position requires occasional lifting and some physical fitness (suitable for both men & women)
  • Passionate about education and creativity

Effectively deal with ad-hoc challenges, keep calm in pressing situations, be flexible with last-minute changes, and still have a positive attitude throughout :)

During your internship period, you are required to be familiar about each team vision and mission.
