Job Description

The team:
Me.reka is an open-source education platform that advocates for learning outside the traditional classroom paired with unconventional fun! At Me.reka, anyone can come together to share ideas, pick up new skills, and make things.

Me.reka Innovation Labs are for professional makers or curious learners to do any design project, electronics, fabrication, end-to-end prototyping and customisation work. Importantly, we conduct classes and training every week

We want your upbeat and friendliness personality in providing exceptional experiences to all of the passionate learners. As long as you have the ability to apply the Arduino or Raspberry Pi skills!

The Roles:
  • Assists in all aspects of the daily operation and use of the Electronics Lab
  • Facilitate programming in the Electronics Lab or externally for customer's project, custom electronics, classes, and other events & programming as assigned.
  • Model appropriate practices for teaching and learning to encourage curiosity, creative thinking, exploration and experimentation.
  • Engage with customers and students by providing supportive service
  • Model ways to safely use equipment, and materials and prepare pieces for Electronics Lab programming when needed
  • Developing open source micro controllers or processors like Arduino and Raspberry PI, Artificial Intelligence or Internet of Things
  • Testing out new technologies and optimize existing designs
  • To support as needed on wider Lab activity

This includes regularly scheduled weekend jobs. You will need to fulfil 40 working hours every week. Flexibility to work occasional holidays and weekday coverage is preferred.

Job Requirements

  • Electronics/Mechatronic/Electrical Engineering bachelor's degree/experience/background preferred.
  • Experience, working with circuit designing and prototyping, Arduino and Raspberry Pi
  • Interest in working with young children, teenagers, adults and all ages.
  • Strong interest in new technology and innovation
  • To be familiar with Mereka vision and mission.

Personality
  • Strong problem solving skills and outgoing and friendly personality.
  • People person; capable of speaking in front of small groups of people; Public Speaking
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve customer service situations.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Upbeat, curious and able to work in a fast-paced environments

Effectively deal with ad-hoc challenges, keep calm in pressing situations, be flexible with last-minute changes, and still have a positive attitude throughout :) 

As a start-up, we are looking for someone who is flexible within their role, not afraid to jump out of their job scope and learn new skills.
